A repository moving from a builder into a cloud agent loop
The short answer

Pick Replit when you want to build and host an app in one place. Pick Rush when the code is in GitHub and agents should open pull requests on it from an API.

The useful distinction

Replit Agent: a browser cloud workspace where Replit Agent builds, edits and publishes apps. It can also import a GitHub repository, commit to a branch and open the pull request.

An app builder owns the editor, the hosting and often the database. Rush owns none of those. It fits once the code lives in a GitHub repository and the next change should come back as a pull request.

Where it taps outThree harnesses. Repositories through the GitHub App only. No self-host or customer VPC. A key runs 4 at once by default, up to 100.Starter builds only in Lite mode and its published app goes down after 30 days. Core runs 1 background task at a time. No REST API to start agent work; the MCP server signs in as a person.

Decision

When each side wins

Rush wins when

  • Work starts from an API call or an automation with an API key, not a person in a browser.
  • The agent is Claude Code, Codex or OpenCode on your own account.
  • Many runs at once: a key starts 4 by default and up to 100.

Replit Agent wins when

  • Hosting, deploys, custom domains and a production database come built in, with rollback up to 28 days on Pro.
  • People who do not write code can build with the Visual Editor and Design Canvas.
  • A full cloud IDE sits next to the agent.

Rush

Where Rush sits

Rush has no editor, hosting or database. It takes a task for a GitHub repository, from the API, the MCP server or an automation, and returns the pull request with the run's transcript.

Honest limits

Skip Rush if

  • Rush runs three agents: Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode. It does not host an agent you wrote yourself.
  • Repositories come through the Rush GitHub App. A GitLab or Bitbucket repository cannot be a run's repository yet.
  • There is no self-hosted or customer-VPC deployment, and we do not publish a compliance report today.
  • Compute is metered. Free includes 5 agent-hours a month and Pro 40, each with a weekly ceiling.
  • You review the pull request. Rush does not merge for you.

FAQ

Questions people actually ask

Can Replit Agent open pull requests on an existing repo?

Yes. Replit's guide says that on an imported GitHub repository the agent commits to a branch, pushes it and opens the pull request with the description filled in. You need write access.

Can I move from Replit Agent to Rush?

Yes. The steps, from Replit's own docs, are on the Migrate from Replit Agent to Rush page. Code you already pushed stays where it is.

Does Rush need my own model account?

By default a run uses your own Claude or ChatGPT subscription or API key, and your provider bills the model calls. Rush meters the sandbox compute against your plan, and parked time is free.
