Rush vs Greptile

Greptile now runs branches in a sandbox too. The difference is what happens after the finding: Greptile hands it to your local agent; a Rush run can fix it where it found it.

The short answer

Pick Greptile for codebase-graph review, self-hosting and wide forge support. Pick Rush when the same cloud agent should review, run the tests and push the fix.

The useful distinction

Greptile: an AI code reviewer that builds a graph of your codebase, comments on pull requests in about three minutes, and with TREX (public beta) runs the branch in a sandbox to find runtime bugs.

A review bot reads the diff and comments. An agent in a sandbox can also check out the branch, run the tests and push a fix. Both are useful; they are different jobs.

Decision

When each side wins

Rush wins when

  • The agent that finds the problem should also push the fix and open the pull request, in the cloud.
  • Review is billed as sandbox time, not credits per review tier.
  • Each review run keeps its transcript: what the agent read, ran and concluded.

Greptile wins when

  • You want review tuned against a full graph of the codebase and your team's reactions.
  • You need self-host, air-gapped deployment and SOC 2 Type II.
  • You need GitLab, Bitbucket Data Center, Gitea or Perforce.

Rush

Where Rush sits

Greptile's TREX and a Rush run both execute the branch. A Rush run is the whole agent, Claude Code, Codex or OpenCode in its own microVM, so a review automation can be followed by a run that fixes what it found and opens the pull request.

Honest limits

Skip Rush if

  • Rush runs three agents: Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode. It does not host an agent you wrote yourself.
  • Repositories come through the Rush GitHub App. A GitLab or Bitbucket repository cannot be a run's repository yet.
  • There is no self-hosted or customer-VPC deployment, and we do not publish a compliance report today.
  • Compute is metered. Free includes 5 agent-hours a month and Pro 40, each with a weekly ceiling.
  • You review the pull request. Rush does not merge for you.

FAQ

Questions people actually ask

Does Greptile open fix pull requests?

No. Its Fix with your Agent page sends the issue to a local agent such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or Devin through the Greptile Bridge. Greptile itself comments with suggested fixes.

Can I move from Greptile to Rush?

Yes. The steps, from Greptile's own docs, are on the Migrate from Greptile to Rush page. Code you already pushed stays where it is.

Does Rush need my own model account?

By default a run uses your own Claude or ChatGPT subscription or API key, and your provider bills the model calls. Rush meters the sandbox compute against your plan, and parked time is free.
