Rush vs Amazon Bedrock AgentCore
AgentCore is the parts to build an agent platform on AWS. Rush is a finished one for a narrower job: an agent doing a task and returning the result.

Pick AgentCore when you build your own agents inside AWS with its governance. Pick Rush when you want Claude Code or Codex to do the task and return the pull request.

The useful distinction
Amazon Bedrock AgentCore: a modular AWS platform to host, run and govern agents of any framework: a microVM runtime, a managed harness, gateway and MCP, memory, identity, browser, code interpreter, policy and evals.
A sandbox is a computer for an agent. You still write the agent loop, clone the repository, push the branch and decide when the work is done. Rush is the layer above: you send the task and get back the pull request, report or files.
Head to head
Buyer questions
| Question | Rush | Amazon Bedrock AgentCore |
|---|---|---|
| What runs | Claude Code, Codex or OpenCode, the vendors' own CLIs, or a saved agent built on one. | Your framework (LangGraph, Strands, CrewAI, OpenAI Agents SDK, Claude Agent SDK), or the managed harness built on Strands Agents. |
| Isolation | One E2B microVM per run with its own disk, memory, desktop and browser. It parks between turns and is removed on cancel or after 7 idle days. | Each user session in a dedicated microVM, up to 8 hours, or 14 days on Instances. Filesystem can persist across stop and resume. Browser and Code Interpreter run in containers, 15 minutes by default. |
| Result and pull request | A run on a repository works on its own branch and opens the pull request; a run whose checks fail ends needs_review, not completed. Reports and files come back as artifacts. | Left to you. Results come back over the API, a stream or a WebSocket; GitHub appears only as an outbound sign-in target. |
| MCP | Rush is an MCP server at api.prix.dev/mcp with 18 tools. A run also takes MCP servers by connection or inline. | Agents use tools over MCP or A2A. Gateway turns APIs and Lambdas into MCP tools and connects existing MCP servers. |
| Team | Everyone in the org sees the same Projects and runs, with who started each. Automations start runs from GitHub events, schedules, webhooks and Linear. | IAM, AgentCore Identity with Okta, Entra ID or Cognito, a Registry of agents and tools, and a browser Live View a person can take over. |
| Starting price | Free 5 agent-hours / month; Pro $20; Team $200 | Runtime $0.0895 per vCPU-hour and $0.00945 per GB-hour; up to $200 Free Tier credit for new AWS customers |
| Where it taps out | Three harnesses. Repositories through the GitHub App only. No self-host or customer VPC. A key runs 4 at once by default, up to 100. | 8-hour microVM sessions. The managed harness is Strands-based, not the Claude Code or Codex CLI. No pull request or proof loop: you assemble Runtime, Gateway, Identity and Observability. |
Decision
When each side wins
Rush wins when
- The agent should be Claude Code, Codex or OpenCode, the vendors' own CLIs, not a framework you build on.
- The result is a pull request with checks, or a report, without assembling five services.
- One API call starts the run; there is no runtime, gateway or identity to configure first.
Amazon Bedrock AgentCore wins when
- You need enterprise governance: Cedar-compatible policy, identity from your IdP, CloudTrail, a registry and evaluations.
- Everything must run in your own AWS account and regions, with multi-day Instances and GPUs.
- You want CPU billed down to zero during I/O wait, and browser sessions recorded to S3.
Rush
Where Rush sits
Rush does not compete with AgentCore's policy, identity or registry. It is one finished loop: send a task, Claude Code, Codex or OpenCode works in its own microVM, and the pull request or report comes back with the transcript.
Honest limits
Skip Rush if
- Rush runs three agents: Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode. It does not host an agent you wrote yourself.
- Repositories come through the Rush GitHub App. A GitLab or Bitbucket repository cannot be a run's repository yet.
- There is no self-hosted or customer-VPC deployment, and we do not publish a compliance report today.
- Compute is metered. Free includes 5 agent-hours a month and Pro 40, each with a weekly ceiling.
- You review the pull request. Rush does not merge for you.
FAQ
Questions people actually ask
Does Rush run in my AWS account like AgentCore?
No. Every Rush run happens in Rush Cloud. There is no self-hosted or customer-account deployment today.
Can I move from Amazon Bedrock AgentCore to Rush?
AgentCore is a platform for agents you build, so there is no single thing to move. A custom coding agent on AgentCore Runtime can be replaced by a Rush run; the rest stays on AWS.
Does Rush need my own model account?
By default a run uses your own Claude or ChatGPT subscription or API key, and your provider bills the model calls. Rush meters the sandbox compute against your plan, and parked time is free.
