The useful distinction

Augment Cloud Agents: Augment's cloud agents (Cosmos) take tickets, reviews and fixes from GitHub, GitLab, Jira, Linear and Slack, work in fresh sandboxed VMs with Augment's Context Engine, and open pull requests.

Cursor Cloud Agents: Cursor's local Agent, moved into isolated cloud VMs. Formerly called Background Agents. Available on paid Cursor plans.

Decision

When each side wins

Augment Cloud Agents wins when

  • You need SOC 2 Type II on every plan, and ISO 42001 and CMEK on Enterprise.
  • Your repositories are on GitLab or GitHub Enterprise Server, and the team works in Microsoft Teams.
  • You want Augment's codebase index, or sessions on your own machines through a daemon.

Cursor Cloud Agents wins when

  • Your team lives in Cursor and wants the same Agent and rules in the cloud.
  • You want draft pull requests on GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps or Bitbucket Cloud.
  • You want Slack, Linear, GitHub, iOS and API entry points from one vendor.

Rush

Where Rush sits

Rush runs the model vendors' own CLIs instead, on your account, with no fee on model calls.

Honest limits

Skip Rush if

  • Rush runs three agents: Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode. It does not host an agent you wrote yourself.
  • Repositories come through the Rush GitHub App. A GitLab or Bitbucket repository cannot be a run's repository yet.
  • There is no self-hosted or customer-VPC deployment, and we do not publish a compliance report today.
  • Compute is metered. Free includes 5 agent-hours a month and Pro 40, each with a weekly ceiling.
  • You review the pull request. Rush does not merge for you.
