# Rush vs Factory Droids

Factory sells its own agent, Droid, with persistent computers on the Plus plan. Rush runs Claude Code, Codex or OpenCode, and every run's machine parks between turns.

Facts checked 15 September 2026. Prices and limits move. Read the citations.

**The short answer.** Pick Factory when you want Droid across every surface and a persistent managed computer. Pick Rush when the agent should be Claude Code, Codex or OpenCode, from an API.

## The useful distinction

Factory Droids: Factory's own coding agents across terminal, IDE, browser, and Slack. Persistent Droid Computers keep the machine awake between sessions.

The useful split is who builds the agent. Most products here run their own. Rush runs Claude Code, Codex or OpenCode, the vendors' own CLIs, and returns the result with the record of how it was made.

## Buyer questions

| Question | Rush | Factory Droids |
| --- | --- | --- |
| What runs | Claude Code, Codex or OpenCode, the vendors' own CLIs, or a saved agent built on one. | Factory Droid. Model choice includes GPT, Claude, and Gemini families. |
| Isolation | One E2B microVM per run with its own disk, memory, desktop and browser. It parks between turns and is removed on cancel or after 7 idle days. | Managed computers: 4 CPU, 8 GB RAM, persist packages and files, auto-pause when idle. BYOM is also supported. |
| Result and pull request | A run on a repository works on its own branch and opens the pull request; a run whose checks fail ends needs_review, not completed. Reports and files come back as artifacts. | Product page: one prompt to PR. Slack integration can open a PR and handle CI via a subagent. |
| MCP | Rush is an MCP server at api.prix.dev/mcp with 18 tools. A run also takes MCP servers by connection or inline. | stdio, HTTP (recommended), legacy SSE. /mcp TUI and droid mcp CLI. Registry of 40+ servers. |
| Team | Everyone in the org sees the same Projects and runs, with who started each. Automations start runs from GitHub events, schedules, webhooks and Linear. | VS Code, JetBrains, Vim, browser, Slack, terminal. Org connectors for GitHub, Linear, Notion, Sentry. |
| Starting price | Free 5 agent-hours / month; Pro $20; Team $200 | Pro $20 / month; managed Droid Computers start at Plus $100 / month |
| Where it taps out | Three harnesses. Repositories through the GitHub App only. No self-host or customer VPC. A key runs 4 at once by default, up to 100. | Managed computers are a Plus+ feature. Rate limits are unpublished. Remote Slack delegations are private preview. |

## When each side wins

### Rush wins when

- You want the vendors' own Claude Code, Codex or OpenCode rather than a new agent.
- Every plan parks runs with their memory, including Free with 5 agent-hours.
- Allowances are published per month and per week.

### Factory Droids wins when

- You want one agent across terminal, IDE, browser and Slack.
- You want a persistent managed computer that keeps packages and files.
- You want a registry of 40+ MCP servers and the droid mcp CLI.

## Where Rush sits

Factory's persistence is a managed computer on the Plus plan. Rush's is per run on every plan: the microVM parks with disk and memory when a turn ends, costs nothing parked, and wakes on the next message.

## Skip Rush if

- Rush runs three agents: Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode. It does not host an agent you wrote yourself.
- Repositories come through the Rush GitHub App. A GitLab or Bitbucket repository cannot be a run's repository yet.
- There is no self-hosted or customer-VPC deployment, and we do not publish a compliance report today.
- Compute is metered. Free includes 5 agent-hours a month and Pro 40, each with a weekly ceiling.
- You review the pull request. Rush does not merge for you.

## Questions people actually ask

### Does Factory publish its rate limits?

Not as numbers. Factory's pricing page retrieved 15 September 2026 describes rolling 5-hour, 7-day and 30-day limits without publishing them, with extra usage as prepaid credits from $10.

### Can I move from Factory Droids to Rush?

Yes. The steps, from Factory's own docs, are on the Migrate from Factory Droids to Rush page. Code you already pushed stays where it is.

### Does Rush need my own model account?

By default a run uses your own Claude or ChatGPT subscription or API key, and your provider bills the model calls. Rush meters the sandbox compute against your plan, and parked time is free.
