# Rush vs Augment Cloud Agents

Augment runs its own agent with its own index and charges a fee on model usage. Rush runs Claude Code, Codex or OpenCode on your account and meters the sandbox.

**The short answer.** Pick Augment when you want its Context Engine, SOC 2 on every plan and GitLab. Pick Rush when the cloud agent should be Claude Code or Codex on your own account.

## The useful distinction

Augment Cloud Agents: Augment's cloud agents (Cosmos) take tickets, reviews and fixes from GitHub, GitLab, Jira, Linear and Slack, work in fresh sandboxed VMs with Augment's Context Engine, and open pull requests.

The useful split is who builds the agent. Most products here run their own. Rush runs Claude Code, Codex or OpenCode, the vendors' own CLIs, and returns the result with the record of how it was made.

## Buyer questions

| Question | Rush | Augment Cloud Agents |
| --- | --- | --- |
| What runs | Claude Code, Codex or OpenCode, the vendors' own CLIs, or a saved agent built on one. | Augment's Auggie agent. Claude Code and Codex use Augment's Context Engine as an MCP server; they are not documented as the cloud agent. |
| Isolation | One E2B microVM per run with its own disk, memory, desktop and browser. It parks between turns and is removed on cancel or after 7 idle days. | A fresh sandboxed VM per session, started from a snapshot of your environment. A self-hosted daemon can run sessions on your own machine. |
| Result and pull request | A run on a repository works on its own branch and opens the pull request; a run whose checks fail ends needs_review, not completed. Reports and files come back as artifacts. | Opens pull requests on GitHub, GitHub Enterprise Server, GitLab Cloud and self-hosted GitLab. |
| MCP | Rush is an MCP server at api.prix.dev/mcp with 18 tools. A run also takes MCP servers by connection or inline. | MCP client for local, remote and OAuth servers. Its Context Engine is also an MCP server for other agents. |
| Team | Everyone in the org sees the same Projects and runs, with who started each. Automations start runs from GitHub events, schedules, webhooks and Linear. | GitHub, GitLab, Jira, Linear, Slack and Microsoft Teams. SOC 2 Type II on every plan; SSO, OIDC and SCIM on Enterprise. |
| Starting price | Free 5 agent-hours / month; Pro $20; Team $200 | Standard $20 / month flat, up to 50 seats, $20 usage included; Business $100 / month |
| Where it taps out | Three harnesses. Repositories through the GitHub App only. No self-host or customer VPC. A key runs 4 at once by default, up to 100. | No free tier. A 40% fee on model usage. Self-serve plans cap at 50 seats and 50 concurrent sessions. A running session does not pick up environment updates. |

## When each side wins

### Rush wins when

- The agent is Claude Code, Codex or OpenCode on your own subscription, with no fee on model calls.
- You want a free plan to start: 5 agent-hours a month.
- A run should park with its memory and wake on the next message.

### Augment Cloud Agents wins when

- You need SOC 2 Type II on every plan, and ISO 42001 and CMEK on Enterprise.
- Your repositories are on GitLab or GitHub Enterprise Server, and the team works in Microsoft Teams.
- You want Augment's codebase index, or sessions on your own machines through a daemon.

## Where Rush sits

Rush does not add a fee to your model calls: by default a run uses your own Claude or ChatGPT subscription or key, and Rush meters only the sandbox compute against your plan.

## Skip Rush if

- Rush runs three agents: Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode. It does not host an agent you wrote yourself.
- Repositories come through the Rush GitHub App. A GitLab or Bitbucket repository cannot be a run's repository yet.
- There is no self-hosted or customer-VPC deployment, and we do not publish a compliance report today.
- Compute is metered. Free includes 5 agent-hours a month and Pro 40, each with a weekly ceiling.
- You review the pull request. Rush does not merge for you.

## Questions people actually ask

### Does Augment charge on top of model usage?

Yes. Augment's token pricing page says it adds a 40% service fee on model usage, and charges compute at $0.19 an hour. Rush runs the model on your own account by default and meters only the sandbox.

### Can I move from Augment Cloud Agents to Rush?

Yes. The steps, from Augment Code's own docs, are on the Migrate from Augment Cloud Agents to Rush page. Code you already pushed stays where it is.

### Does Rush need my own model account?

By default a run uses your own Claude or ChatGPT subscription or API key, and your provider bills the model calls. Rush meters the sandbox compute against your plan, and parked time is free.
