# CodeRabbit vs Greptile

The two AI reviewers developers compare first. Greptile publishes its own Greptile vs CodeRabbit page.

Facts checked 17 October 2026. Prices and limits move. Read the citations.

Neither product is ours. Rush is, and it gets one paragraph below. Every cell is from the vendor's own pages.

**The short answer.** Pick CodeRabbit for line-by-line review on GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps and Bitbucket. Pick Greptile for codebase-graph review, TREX runtime checks and self-hosting.

## The useful distinction

CodeRabbit: an AI code reviewer that posts pull request summaries and line comments on GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps and Bitbucket, learns from your team's replies, and can push fixes.

Greptile: an AI code reviewer that builds a graph of your codebase, comments on pull requests in about three minutes, and with TREX (public beta) runs the branch in a sandbox to find runtime bugs.

## Buyer questions

| Question | CodeRabbit | Greptile |
| --- | --- | --- |
| What runs | Models from OpenAI and Anthropic. Reviews can run shell commands and static analysis; coding tasks run in a sandbox that is in beta. | Greptile's reviewer on OpenAI and Anthropic models. TREX starts services, dev servers, mocks and targeted tests. |
| Isolation | Hosted by CodeRabbit; customer code is not used for training. Self-hosting needs Enterprise with 500 or more seats. | Code stored encrypted on Greptile's servers; SOC 2 Type II. Self-host and air-gapped deployment available. Customer code may train its models unless an admin opts out. |
| Result and pull request | Comments on every pull request. Fix comments pushes a commit to the branch or opens a stacked pull request, on Essentials and up. | Comments with suggested fixes on GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket and Gitea, and Perforce on-premises. It does not open fix pull requests; Fix with your Agent hands the issue to a local agent. |
| MCP | MCP client only: it pulls context from MCP servers you add in its web UI (5 to 20 by plan). | An MCP server gives Claude, Cursor, Copilot and Codex access to review data. |
| Team | Jira and Linear, Slack, a .coderabbit.yaml in the repository, and Learnings from chat replies. Reads AGENTS.md and CLAUDE.md as review guidelines by default. | Jira and Linear. Rules in .greptile/rules.md and config.json. Learns from reactions and replies. |
| Starting price | Free on public repositories; Essentials $24 / developer / month billed annually ($30 monthly) | Starter free for one developer with 50 credits; Pro $30 / seat / month with 50 credits per seat |
| Where it taps out | Hourly review caps and $0.25 per reviewed file past the allowance. Self-hosting from 500 seats. Fix comments stops on merge conflicts. Its docs do not say reviews run your tests. | No Azure DevOps. Fixes need your own local agent. Apex reviews use 10 of a seat's 50 credits. TREX is public beta. |

## When each side wins

### CodeRabbit wins when

- Your repositories are on GitLab, Azure DevOps or Bitbucket, including self-managed versions.
- You want a mature line-comment UX that learns from your replies.
- Your open-source project wants free reviews forever.

### Greptile wins when

- You want review tuned against a full graph of the codebase and your team's reactions.
- You need self-host, air-gapped deployment and SOC 2 Type II.
- You need GitLab, Bitbucket Data Center, Gitea or Perforce.

## Where Rush sits

Rush is not a review bot. A Rush review is an agent in its own sandbox that can run the tests, and a second run can push the fix.

## Skip Rush if

- Rush runs three agents: Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode. It does not host an agent you wrote yourself.
- Repositories come through the Rush GitHub App. A GitLab or Bitbucket repository cannot be a run's repository yet.
- There is no self-hosted or customer-VPC deployment, and we do not publish a compliance report today.
- Compute is metered. Free includes 5 agent-hours a month and Pro 40, each with a weekly ceiling.
- You review the pull request. Rush does not merge for you.
