# CodeRabbit vs Graphite

CodeRabbit is a review bot on four forges; Graphite is a GitHub review workflow with AI review built in. Graphite publishes its own comparison.

Facts checked 17 October 2026. Prices and limits move. Read the citations.

Neither product is ours. Rush is, and it gets one paragraph below. Every cell is from the vendor's own pages.

**The short answer.** Pick CodeRabbit for a reviewer across forges. Pick Graphite for stacked pull requests, a merge queue and AI review on GitHub.

## The useful distinction

CodeRabbit: an AI code reviewer that posts pull request summaries and line comments on GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps and Bitbucket, learns from your team's replies, and can push fixes.

Graphite: a GitHub code review platform with stacked pull requests, a merge queue, AI reviews and Graphite Chat, with Cursor Cloud Agents on the pull request page. Cursor agreed to acquire it on 19 December 2025.

## Buyer questions

| Question | CodeRabbit | Graphite |
| --- | --- | --- |
| What runs | Models from OpenAI and Anthropic. Reviews can run shell commands and static analysis; coding tasks run in a sandbox that is in beta. | Graphite Agent for AI reviews; Cursor Cloud Agents for fixes from the pull request page. |
| Isolation | Hosted by CodeRabbit; customer code is not used for training. Self-hosting needs Enterprise with 500 or more seats. | SOC 2 Type II. The core app stores basic profile metadata; source code is fetched from GitHub. No self-host found; GHES on Enterprise. |
| Result and pull request | Comments on every pull request. Fix comments pushes a commit to the branch or opens a stacked pull request, on Essentials and up. | GitHub only. One-click suggestions and fixes for failing checks in the pull request; Cursor Cloud Agents commit to the branch. |
| MCP | MCP client only: it pulls context from MCP servers you add in its web UI (5 to 20 by plan). | GT MCP (beta) in the gt CLI lets an agent create stacked pull requests: claude mcp add graphite gt mcp. |
| Team | Jira and Linear, Slack, a .coderabbit.yaml in the repository, and Learnings from chat replies. Reads AGENTS.md and CLAUDE.md as review guidelines by default. | Stacked pull requests, merge queue, review inbox and custom rules in plain language. |
| Starting price | Free on public repositories; Essentials $24 / developer / month billed annually ($30 monthly) | Hobby free with limited AI; Starter $20 / user / month and Team $40 / user / month, billed annually |
| Where it taps out | Hourly review caps and $0.25 per reviewed file past the allowance. Self-hosting from 500 seats. Fix comments stops on merge conflicts. Its docs do not say reviews run your tests. | GitHub only. Fixing with Cursor Cloud Agents needs a separate Cursor plan. Hobby AI limits are unpublished. The AI review docs do not say reviews run code. |

## When each side wins

### CodeRabbit wins when

- Your repositories are on GitLab, Azure DevOps or Bitbucket, including self-managed versions.
- You want a mature line-comment UX that learns from your replies.
- Your open-source project wants free reviews forever.

### Graphite wins when

- You want the whole review workflow: stacked pull requests, a merge queue and a review inbox, not only a bot.
- You want SOC 2 Type II with source code kept off the vendor's servers for the core app.
- Your team already pays for Cursor and wants Cloud Agents one click from the pull request.

## Where Rush sits

Rush can sit beside either: an automation on pull_request.opened starts an agent that reads, runs and comments.

## Skip Rush if

- Rush runs three agents: Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode. It does not host an agent you wrote yourself.
- Repositories come through the Rush GitHub App. A GitLab or Bitbucket repository cannot be a run's repository yet.
- There is no self-hosted or customer-VPC deployment, and we do not publish a compliance report today.
- Compute is metered. Free includes 5 agent-hours a month and Pro 40, each with a weekly ceiling.
- You review the pull request. Rush does not merge for you.

## Questions people actually ask

### Is CodeRabbit cheaper than Graphite?

List prices, read off each vendor's pricing page on 17 October 2026. CodeRabbit: Free on public repositories; Essentials $24 / developer / month billed annually ($30 monthly). Graphite: Hobby free with limited AI; Starter $20 / user / month and Team $40 / user / month, billed annually. The units differ, so price the job you run, not the plan.
